As you may have noticed, I have been neglecting my youtube channels lately, while focusing on music and writing. I did a 5-day music tour in Texas with saxophonist Michael Foster. We met a lot of enthusiastic, fun, interesting people, and (I think) played some of our best music yet as a duo. We have some live recordings, and as long as the recording quality is good enough, I'll post some here in the following days. After getting back home, settling back in, and doing things like fixing plumbing problems in my house, I'm looking forward to getting back to Sitting and Smiling. Also, for the first time in a while, I'm reading a book that I'm actually interested in: "Sex, Ecology, Spirituality: The Spirit of Evolution" by Ken Wilber. It's a developmental map of reality, which links disparate fields together, and addresses both subjective reality (spirituality, consciousness) and objective reality (empirical science) in a synergistic way that I've never seen before. It resonates with and expands upon the worldview that's been simmering in my head for the past few years. This book was published in 1995, and Wilber's work has continued to develop and respond to criticism. If you'd like to get an idea of what his work is about, here is a talk he gave in 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4jcxxJ_0ok
As always, I'm warmed and encouraged by your support, and I hope to bring you more music and video soon. In the meantime, I hope you are swell!
