Don't Drink the Kool-Aid (an introduction to Patreon blog posts)

Hey Patrons!  This is our very first blog post.  We are going to introduce the new blog format and let you take a peek at some of our notes from this episode.

We're going to release one blog post per week (plus or minus).  If they are just our notes and informative, most likely they will be free.  If they are list type posts (i.e. an extra movie not mentioned in the episode) they will probably be for patrons only.  We thought that would give all of our followers the chance to be kept up to speed and given some special, behind the scenes stuff, even if you are not a patron.

We will announce all new blog posts on our episodes and (most likely) whether or not they are free or paid.  Either way, there will be a great mix of both.

To wrap it up, thank you, followers, for being a part of our podcast.  We couldnt do all of this without you.

Don't Drink the Kool - Aid Notes

The types of things we are looking for:

-If you have heard a creepy/scary story from a friend

-If something weird happened to you

-If you read a article about some weird shit happening (I know that I have read a few, and earmarked a few, all about this woman who was embalmed alive, and also this list type article all about real life mysteries that sound like they are from the XFiles, shit like that)

-If you think hey, this is weird, SEND IT TO US! We are all about the strange and unusual shit in this world.

-We’ll talk about movies you want us to watch, same goes for TV shows

-Have questions about us, or the podcast, send em over, we’ll do our best to answer them.

-If you have theme recommendations, also send those.  We are gathering a BUNCH of random shit for suture episodes, and we would love to get you guys involved.

(send that content to [email protected])

Kyle - What phobias do we feel are under represented in media?

Ichthyophobia or Lepidopterophobia

Lepidopterophobia is the fear of butterflies. I actually know people with this phobia. It can be so intense that they can hardly be around dead ones much less living ones

Ichthyophobia is the fear of fish. I also know people with this phobia too!

Neophobia is the fear of newness.

Metathesiophobia if the fear of change.

There is a whole lot of notes and documentation on Neophobia, but not a whole lot on Metathesiophobia.
Flynn brought to my attention that ‘trypophobia’ is only a ‘proposed’ phobia of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. It is not technically a real phobia, because it is not medically acknowledged. “You cant have a fear or something rational”
Almost like a creepypasta because people to id to themselves, go to subreddit and look at the images, KNOWING it grosses them out.
So this is what Metathesiophobia could be, hence the lack of research.
This phobia “fear of change/newness” resonates with me for the obvious reason that I fear change. I don't have an irrational fear of it, but I do believe that it can get out of hand for some people.
Change happens all the time, and the fact that the media industries haven't taken advantage of a fear like that is beyond me, especially horror makers.

Flynn - What is the creepiest thing you've ever seen?

For me, I don't think it was ever just one thing.  I know that I have a hard time being in partial darkness or partial silences because I am highly susceptible to over reacting to shadows and sounds.  Old building freak me the fuck out because of this.  There is usually terrible lighting, and it seems like the building is ‘always settling’ which is something I know doesn't happen all the fucking time, so I wonder who the fuck was lying to me just to keep me calm LOL!

(I also added the story about the suicide guy after Mikaylas story)

It's not funny. It's far from funny. We had a guy who was contracted with my old company to help us move buildings. He started complaining about having chest pains and numbness in his left arm. Which is telltale of a heart attack. The company begged to let us call him an ambulance. He said no and that he had errands to run. He said he would drive himself. This was Friday afternoon.

Monday morning the call center gets a call from his mom asking if we had seen him. She was worried sick. My coworker took the call.

He was found in the parking lot behind the building. It was the hottest weekend of the year so far. He had been baking in his car all weekend. Police came and got him out of the car.

(submission from Mikaylas friend) Julia - What the government is actually planning?

Just reading the title of this article freaks me out.

I know the government has the power to do a lot more than ‘disarm’ us. Full scale Nazi shit.

This is totally Nazi shit!!!!!

The purge will fucking happen, I KNEW IT!!!!!!

Holding the US resources hostage so we have to be all “Please, sir, may I have some more”

I always knew prepping was a waste of fucking time! They think the govt doesnt know they exist, they’re fucking WRONG!

(Submission) Kadiaxk - Strange things happening at night making them think their house is haunted

So this person submitted this via our Google Page with this very vague, thing, I emailed them back to no avail. I mean, we WANT to know all about the crazy shit happening in your house.  This is crack to us hah!  Please tell us more!

Listen, I need them to email back because I desperately need to know. But also literally in the back of my mind I have a fear that every house I'm in is haunted. Literally the house I'm in now, if I can't sleep I will not get up and walk around for fear of finding a ghost hahah. Listen, I want to be around ghosts, but not in my house please I will stock up on sage
