Dreamer's Day (snippet)

The hatred had built daily for many years, I studied the calouses on my hands and swore under my breath. How was I to get a lead seat with these rough shod hands? Was it not bad enough I was an aboration, even among the second class of females. I pushed the hated dark black hair from my face. The dainty pair of blonds giggling under their breath and mocking me was wearing on my temper, and that was not a good way to start a choosing day. Gray stepped from a door just ahead of me to my right and beckoned I nodded and entered the room remembering at the last second to drop my gaze.
