The End of the Arabic Testimonium
Hello, patrons!

Today, in preparation for another post coming next, on my presentation at the Society of Biblical Literature last weekend, I have assembled as clear an explanation as I can muster of the complicated matter of the so-called "Arabic fragment" of the passage Josephus allegedly wrote about Jesus. Once touted as proof Josephus wrote that passage, that possibility has since been refuted, and all opinions based on not knowing that (which means most expert opinions still cited today) are now invalid.

In the process, I show how understanding the logic of probability is essential to a historian, and when a historian doesn't take the trouble to learn it, they will make terrible logical mistakes, even in peer reviewed literature--because peer reviewers in history haven't learned logic either.

Check it out: The End of the Arabic Testimonium.
