Episode 1 | In Your Face featuring Inshah Malik

In Your Face is a podcast series where each episode will feature a conversation with an author, artist, activist whose research focuses on under-represented or misrepresented conflicts. We investigate the roots of the struggles, examine research methods and bring out voices that are rarely heard.

For this episode, Francesca Recchia sat down with Inshah Malik to discuss Inshah’s newly released book, Muslim Women: Agency and Resistance Politics in the Case of Kashmir. They delve into the intricacies of the lives of Muslim women in Kashmir as well as their role in the struggle for Kashmir’s self-determination.

Inshah has a doctorate degree in Gender Studies and Political Theory from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi. She's a gender activist and writes ethnographic poetry. Her writings and poetry have been frequently published in magazines and publications both in India and the United States. For her gender activism, she was featured on Christian Science Monitor and also in the Red Elephant Foundation’s book on “Around the world in Fifty Voices” honouring women’s rights activists from around the world.
