Something profound happened this week: Patreon processed your pledges for Painting in the Dark - and we completed our magic art-for-patronage exchange for the first time. Once the various fees and taxes were taken out there was just enough to cover the cost of the orchestrated music and stock images I used.
I know we're starting small, but this is the first time anyone has ever given me money directly for something I have made and it feels...like the future.
Once again: thank you!
Meanwhile...as you can see from the above picture I've just finished the story design and pre vis on the next video essay, and I'll be going straight into animation and editing next week. On the top row are the designs for each scene in the film (there are 8 in this one) and beneath are the corresponding thumbnail sketches, which will be my guide as I edit.
This one's going to be a bit different: firstly it's a collaboration of sorts - with one of you patrons actually! - and secondly it's tackling a subject area that I have avoided venturing into until now. So lots could happen - and go wrong! - in the next few weeks, but fingers crossed I'll have something interesting and thought-provoking for you at the end of the month.
Beta testers keep an eye out in your inboxes in about a fortnight.
Lots moving, more soon!
