Essays Against Publishing (Booklet)

Here's a collection that gathers five texts I shared over the past year on this page as I formed my critique of publishing and worked towards alternatives grounded in direct action and mutual aid. It's here that I began to develop an understanding of the anti-press as a weapon created from below, not by the (white, employed) proletariat but by collectives of the dispossessed, by the self-organized Black and brown underclasses) that could help bring about a broader abolition; that we could build an anti-publishing movement to fundamentally challenge the neoliberal, counter-revolutionary publishing which is the norm today and which takes place everywhere that the university, corporate finance, the law, and nonprofits meet.

You can purchase a print copy of the 54 page booklet on Gumroad at this link for $5, or download the PDF attached to this post for free.

As I've written before, I would have preferred to wait to sell copies of this booklet until I'd built out a zine distribution network with other local writers, but we're still in a pandemic and I'm facing the need to raise funds again to get access to the health care I need -- that's why I'm releasing this text in print now and asking you to please share that this work exists.
