I took out the heavy top and bottom rungs that were boxing everything in, replacing them with draping garlands along the top and a winding scroll with Latin along the bottom. This extra space let be put the circular rose motif up making everything much less cramped.
By Sunday I had the basic sketch down and started inking. I considered whether I wanted to do another fully rendered drawing of it first but to be honest, the idea killed me a little. I guess I still need to work on my patience.
In other news, Angela is going to be taking me on as a mentee over the summer for some intensive work. I intend to use the time to fill out my portfolio so that I have something to show galleries and art directors when I decide to make my move into the professional illustration / art world.
Thank you again all so much for your support. I know that it probably doesn't seem like much but I can't even begin to explain how much it has opened things up for me. In the past I would have simply walked past supplies. I never considered buying art books because they are so expensive. A mentorship with a profession? That was something that I thought would be forever in the realm of dreams for me. But now it's all possible. Sometimes it'll take me a couple of months to save up (like the mentorship thing) but it's possible. And that's all because of you.
