Femme Protection
I don't dance much

but when I do,

I am among other femmes and non-men

It is the closest I can feel to existing

with a freed state of mind

My dance floor

is the privacy of my collective

as their eyes and bodies form shields around me

blocking any toxic "Aye how's it goin ma"s

from my rear view

In my near view

I see my loved ones grow tired

For they must also fight

until they are no longer seen

as desirable or available to men

who attempt to claim us

You can see their dark circles sink

all while still maintaining their own circle of protection

for me

and others like us

'Cause at the end of the day

ain't nobody got us

like us
