First (small) Painting for the New Year
"Now this is a story all about how,

my life got flipped, turned upside down,

And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there

I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-air "

Heheh... so is the Fresh Prince tune firmly lodged in your head for the rest of the day now? Your welcome! :-D

Why, you ask, did I inflict this torture upon you? Well (since you asked) it's January 2nd and I have the nastiest cold I've had in a very long time. Hopefully it doesn't become something else. Not only that, it was -31 degrees celsius this morning, and that has been the steady temperature most nights since just before Christmas. Ah well.

Anyway, for the first real day back to work, the task was supposed to be a few other things but instead I painted this. My head is truly not where it should be so the idea was to at the very least do a bit of practicing, and I'm glad to have made the choice. Practice/warm ups are always good anyway, but when you're not feeling great, paid work is not the best choice - not for me anyway.

At 4.5 x 5.5 inches, this view of Jakku (I think? I get mixed up in the planet names from Rogue One) is painted on a piece of unmounted linen. This soaks up the paint quite a bit more than board does, and requires a bit of drying time in between sessions.

The next larger pieces will include a "normal" landscape (y'know, of the real world variety) and a piece including Salacious Crumb.

I hope the start of this New Year is going smoothly for you all! Comme toujours:

À bientôt!
