Forest Glade
Within a peaceful forest glade,
An island in the sylvan shade;
Two errant knights by chance did meet,
While chasing each some noble feat.

Each reigned his charger and stood still,
And gazed to seek the other’s will;
For each knight blocked the other’s path,
And so incurred the other’s wrath.

Without a word their arms they drew,
Into the fray their chargers flew;
As steel rang and blows were dealt,
A clamor rose where silence dwelt.

And err the setting of the sun,
The mighty battle long was done;
And there before the open sky,
The knights forever more shall lie.

Within a peaceful quite glade,
An island in the sylvan shade;
Two peasants met and said “Good day!”
And each one journeyed on his way.
