I am not counting on this money like many users of Patreon count on it - for a budget for expensive music equipment like a $2,000 guitar or a $4,000 fancy studio experience, for example. I'm just counting on it for expensive "equipment" called medicine that's apparently required to keep my fingers from painfully twitching from lyme arthritis or to keep my pancreas processing food so I can keep my eyes open long enough to read lyrics!
Are you willing to do me a favor and bear with me? I will be posting THREE "paid post" songs in the month of December since I only posted one in November. If you have a monthly maximum on there, it will not charge you more. If this is a problem, please let me know!
December has lots of rewards in store for you all, too! I will be giving away a FREE digital EP called "Hi from PilLows" to everyone who has been a patron this year and kept me going with your love!!!
Here's a new song of hope amidst illness; feminism amidst sexism; timeless wisdom amidst false growth myths. It also comes from a place of pre-emptive joy. I'm trying something new. I am bathing in the joy that I currently have, from the progress of healing I feel, but imagining full victory for social movements BEFORE they happen. How sweet the day will feel when those at Standing Rock are validated by the endearing gaze of retrospect! How relieving it will feel when those suffering from toxic illnesses will be finally heard and acknowledged by medical establishments! Ironically, I am predicting that the day will be bittersweet, as so many who knew all along will not live to see the day when their wisdom and intuition is honored, and often, their timeless wisdom will be falsely named as a "new discovery" by some white dude. But we will know. ;)
I am joined by the lovely Hannah Hamavid on autoharp and harmonies and Ben Plotkin-Swing on ukulele. They have been absolutely essential pick-me-uppers during treatment these last few years and I love these people. Here's a video of one of our "rehearsals" before we play tomorrow in Seattle to open for the rad poet Tara Hardy, who has just released a book inspired by HER experience with late stage lyme!
THANK YOU for going along with this. Thank you for your support.
Lyrics:
Forgot to Mention:
In the morning
A light will be shining
Finally with timing
They’ll have time for you
No more wastin
Your heart will glisten
Finally they’ll listen
To your point of view
We’ll grab their attention
The things that they forgot to mention
The things we already know
Look girl now, you made em
Reconnect with things they were estranged from
The sun and earth - we told them so
( break)
In the morning
With patience we’ll be free now
This is a patient’s dream now
They’re coming through
It may be years
Before our cries reach the right ears
But when they do, I will cry for you
The day we
Get recognition
And don’t need any man’s permission
We’ll know just what to do
Can you feel it? No more drownin
I’m shouting high above the mountains
I feel it, I’m healin too
