FREE FARE FRIDAY -Poem 'o the month - for Abigail
Happy Holidays!  Here's a poem 'o the month using a very specific prompt.

TRUMP

On Monday,

May 1st, 1989,

during the fervor of the Central Park

Five investigations,

(where a jogger was brutally assaulted

and raped April 19th)

Where a scattering of additional victims -

 - cyclists, school teachers, cab drivers -

were also attacked by a roving gang of thirty plus

"wilding" teens,

(five of which would confess under duress

to a crime not committed

and serve time.  None over sixteen years old)

On that Monday morning,

you posted an advertisement

in four major New York newspapers.

Total cost:

Eighty-five thousand dollars.

In part,

it read:

Mayor Koch

has stated that hate

and rancor

should be removed

from our hearts.

I do not think so. I want

to hate

these muggers

and murderers.

(the jogger, she was still

in a coma by press date,

and last rites were given, but woke

April 2nd to recover)

I no longer

want to understand

the anger

of young men.

I want them

to understand

our anger.

I want them to be afraid.

Criminals must be told

that their

CIVIL LIBERTIES END

WHEN AN ATTACK ON OUR SAFETY

BEGINS!

Let our politicians give back

our police department's

power

to keep us safe.  Unshackle them

from the constant chant

of "police brutality"....

BRING BACK

THE DEATH PENALTY

AND BRING BACK

OUR POLICE!
