You know, music can be like a time capsule. Capturing the sounds, feelings and experiences of those who create it and be a snapshot of an era. I've mentioned El Ka Bong before, the first band I ever toured and recorded with. But I wanted to share this tune and my appreciation for the experiences I had with these beautiful people. I can't deny, this is kinda emotional, because earlier this year Matt aka "Master Chief" passed away...like all of us in our youth he was a little feisty but at his core he was a loving, kind and generous person. He had the longest commute but he always made an effort to be at practice and shows because he loved making music and he loved his band mates. He was one of two drummers in the band, which meant most shows we would share real estate on stage (I always played percussion when I wasn't singing). We had so many laughs, so many crazy stage plots at small venues, soooo many long nights, especially at festivals, it's hard to come to terms with the fact that he's gone. But I'm glad we had the time we had, I'm glad we have the time capsule of music to look back on and memories to laugh at. His passing is a reminder that tomorrow is not promised, even for those with their whole life ahead of them. So be your best self, live your best life and leave the world a little better than you found it. This one goes out to you Master Chief, thanks for making my life a little brighter.
