"Gamers" Are Still Dead, Y'all
This is a tired conversation, but one I always hope becomes entirely irrelevant sooner rather than later.

For as much as I love games, the community sucks. Racism doesn't have total saturation, but it's omnipresent. It rarely takes an hour of online play to find it, at least once, and it's often moshing with toxic aggression, self-aggrandizement, and sexism.  All of these things make for a less pleasant gaming experience, but they seem entirely unchallenged. The confrontational go without being confronted, and gaming remains a place where getting yelled at is a virtual certainty.

Even if that weren't the case, the common arguments tend to dwell on "git gud" or "this is how it is, get used to it." Well, maybe we should stop being so used to it.

The gaming community doesn't have to suck.
