For my first post, I wanted to share some of my published works. From refugees and empathy, to suicide and bridge design - this is kind of a "ChrisLe/Vu Primer." Here's some of that writing:
I wanted to share these things because it kind of gets us to where I am today. A published, award winning speaker and creator who's wanting to share some stuff with you on Patreon.
I don't know about y'all, but the last few years have been a kick in the pants. Every day something awful happens, getting anxious seems unavoidable and it feels like - it feels like the end of America. Which by the way did you know that Naomi Wolf wrote her book, The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot with me as the central character? I don't agree with everything she says in it, but hey - I was a muse for a bit! I feel like I have so much to tell you, haha.
So, with all those ups and downs, it's very hard to know where to focus. I've always been amazing at starting projects, and some of them take off and some of them get lost in a folder called "big ideas" on old hard drives.
I'm learning to embrace how my brain works though, to be okay with the fact that as a refugee I'm a bit mad.
From the Critical Refugee Studies Collective:
Vietnamese French writer Linda Le also delves into the state of madness, looking at how the refugee is made mad by the precarious conditions of her living within the borders of the metropole. Madness, as writers have shown, depicts not the unhinging of one’s mental state but expresses the rage that one feels in being displaced.
So, that's the foundation that we'll use. Join me in the madness and let's see where we can go from here!
