Grotesque Elegance
My favorite circus freak in the forest is the barbed-wire swallower, binding around the metal in a bite that won't let go. Even when the wood rots away, it will leave a hard core encapsulating the line. I've seen it before, a rock-solid sheath showing where a trunk used to be. Fear not the knots and tangles, the broken limbs and burls. Despite all the challenges of tree life, they still keep growing, incessantly. This is my kind of grotesque elegance, showing off scars and all it takes to earn them...
