Art: TAKE A LOOK TO THE FUTURE by Laurabltrn [ w e l c o m e ] Ever since 2003 I have been participating on and off in the National Novel Writing Month, a November-long challenge to write 50,000 words of a novel in a month. It doesn't have
Help me Fundraise for NaNoWriMo!
I've decided to rejoin the NaNoWriMo frenzy this year (technically my 4th or 5th in 11 years, though I've only been successful twice) with [ l i m i n a ], a joint novel & graphic novel project exploring the ways identity and liminality are mediated through technology. You can read more about the story and follow the process at http://limina-nano.tumblr.com Every year, NaNoWriMo hosts The Night of Writing Dangerously, a group writeathon that also functions as a fundraiser for their free creative writing education programs. If I am able to raise at least $275 by November 12th, I will be able to attend this year's event on November 16th in downtown San Francisco - which promises food, prizes, good company, and tons of concentrated writing time. All money goes directly towards NaNoWriMo; I do not get a cent. The money raised will go towards supporting free creative writing programs for youths. Having worked in multiple youth-oriented arts & education programs, as well as being a writer since childhood, I know first hand just how powerful it can be to empower young people with ways to express themselves. Even if we don't raise $275, that's fine - every little bit counts. The fundraiser take credit cards and PayPal. Thank you for your support! (I may also elect to share sections from [ l i m i n a ] into Patreon and dedicate a chunk of the proceeds to NoWD.)
