Help me take journalism back
My dear friends ~

Yes, you. All of you.

I'm an award-winning journalist compelled to help my fellow citizens to get back to the basics of journalism and truth. To do that, we must be aware of the subtle ways that bias creeps in to even the best and most hallowed institutions.

I am here at Patreon, asking you to be my patron, because I do not want to be beholden to any advertisers, not even when and if my start-up news outlet becomes a hallowed institution.

Some of you may remember that I was a vocal advocate of Hillary Clinton before the election. Much of this stemmed from my experience as a child, watching journalists report inaccurately on my mother and her religious organization. This experience motivates me to this day to pursue truth and fairness. After the election, I reexamined some of the sources I thought so solid. Further, I've resolved to exit the world of partisanship. I am no longer supporting any candidate, politician or party. I am only supporting fairness and accuracy.

Over the last 15 years, I've watched my field of journalism suffer from consolidation, cutbacks, declining ad revenues and shrinking personnel budgets. I've watched news outlets copy each other, right down to the same headline. I've seen the same stories get covered over and over, while others never see any screen time to the point where people laugh at the idea of them. I've watched communities get neglected and issues get overplayed. I've decided it's time to do something about it. I'm hoping to eventually employ a team of writers, but right now, it's just me finding stories off the wagon trail.

Living in Los Angeles, I have access to some of the best and most interesting stories that aren't getting covered in established media. I'm also a single mother making my way in one of the most expensive cities in the country. That's why I need your help.

I need the free time to be able to pursue those stories, and with your help to take our information systems back from bias and partisanship.

Please explore my web site and read the mission statement ("Mission.") If you believe in my mission, please help me with a donation. If you cannot afford a donation, please read my articles and spread the word, either on my web site or through the Patreon web site and on Facebook.

Thank you for being committed to the truth.
