Some of you may know that YouTubers actually make money based on the number of views they get - this is true! However, around the time we started The Shirtless Violinist, there were big changes happening on the platform. Some big advertisers were pulling their ads off of videos they found to be offensive or potentially controversial. And the unfortunate part about that? Almost all LGBTQ videos were deemed too controversial. Sadly, because YouTube is such a big place, individual channels and videos couldn't be reviewed case-by-case, so they decided "anything" LGBTQ was unsuitable for most advertisers.
This was nicknamed "The Adpocalypse" and many YouTubers either stopped producing content or found a second job to support their hobby.
So, how much money have our videos, and all 1.3 millions views brought us so far?
No, I didn't put the decimal in the wrong spot. That's just four dollars and sixty-four cents in our bank account.
The only reason I am writing about this is because I want you guys to know how grateful I am for your support here on Patreon. Without your pledges and your generosity, The Shirtless Violinist simply couldn't exist! It's because of the support YOU offer that we are able to spend every penny on producing beautiful music and videos.
Paul and I both wish to say: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We are so lucky to have fans like you, and we look forward to bringing bigger and better videos each month. We are on an exciting journey, and it's just the beginning!
