How to Compose Music
The process for composing music is often portrayed as mysterious or even by immaculate conception! I've spent the last two-plus years refining and systemizing how I compose music with everything I've learned over the last 30+ years. Through my one-on-one teaching and leading small workshops, I'm really seeing it work. While many people will write a novel this month (http://nanowrimo.org) I am putting my approach into a form that I can share it with people. This won't be focused on things like "how to write effective chord progressions" or "proper voice leading." That's all "out there" already. It'll be a way to think about composing that gets out of the way all the stuff that's in the way so that composers, no matter their level of experience or talent, can write the music that they are meant to write. After all, the secret to composing is to compose. Stay tuned.
