I originally posted this to Twitter back on September 10th of 2015, but I wanted to post it here for people who aren't Twitter users or following me on Twitter to see it.

With today being #WorldSuicidePreventionDay I found it appropriate to explain one of the main facets of our community on twitch.tv/rubysnipa.

Some of you may wonder why I have a strict "No Hate" policy in my channel & hand out what some might consider harsh punishments for people who post messages containing "Kill yourself", racism, sexism, &/or homophobia toward anyone whether they are in chat, a follower, a friend, or a complete stranger.

This is because I want people to be able to come to my channel, to unwind from a stressful day, & have a good time without fear of being attacked by other members of the internet or Twitch communities.

This past week one of my long-time teenage followers was racially attacked, stalked, & harassed by one of their classmates for being of a different skin color than them. This behavior is unacceptable to me and the fact that this happened on my channel makes me unbelievably enraged. The harasser even went so far as to create another account to continue their harassment with "Snipa" in their name.

As someone who was bullied in High School & is afflicted with a Major Depressive Disorder, I understand what it's like to experience a lot of the ugly parts of human interaction & behavior and experience the death of a classmate & friend of mine due to suicide.

However, let me be clear, this isn't about me.

This is about US as a community.

A community that we are building together as a positive space where hate will not be tolerated. A place where people can talk about their aspirations & who they are, without being judged or discriminated against.

If anyone ever wants to talk to me about anything that is bothering them, giving them trouble, or just want to air their frustrations, no matter how trivial they may seem to you, you can PM me on Twitter or Twitch and I will reply back.

End of rant.
