It's like this every morning, really.
 
The desert is a place of hostile beauty. Things here prick you, sting you, and burn you. Temperatures can soar above 100 degrees in summer and below freezing in winter. Roads are rough and bumpy here and sometimes paved. Driving 100, 200, 300 or more miles in a day out here is the norm. Work begins at or before sunrise to beat the heat for a few hours before the big broil sets in. The view is incredible as the day begins and all the sacrifices are again worthwhile with every extraordinary sunrise.
