One of the BobCat vehicles of our Fairbanks city snow&ice clearance

department. Underpaid and underappreciated workers sitting at the

controls, surrounded by diesel fumes and with only that cage of glass to

insulate from however cold it happens to be outside.

These are the smaller vehicles that clear the sidewalks across our university. Caught

this one on my way out to head to the store, amidst the still-falling

snow. We'd just gotten 8 inches overnight, so they began clearing and

plowing at 4 in the morning.
