Hey guys, sorry I've been so quiet the past couple weeks. I've been dealing with some pretty rough mental/physical health issues which have taken a lot more of my focus than I'd like. My neuralgia and fatigue are flaring big time and I've been having hard time getting around without a cane (which is not normal for me), so I'm not sure if it's a relapse or it it's just the stress from my mental health affecting my MS. Either way, it sucks big time. :P
I realize now that I was burning out pretty hard in February, I kept trying to push myself to be productive even when my body was telling me I should rest. I also have been neglecting my art studies in order to get updates ready, and while both are important to me, learning new techniques/skills has been super valuable to keeping me motivated to create. This was no one's fault but my own, as you guys have been nothing but super patient and supportive about me taking breaks. I just need to remember that I'm much better off doing what's best for the longevity of the comic rather than working myself to the brink of exhaustion to meet some unrealistic standard I've set for myself.
I'm still going to finish chapter 11, about a week or so ago I was almost ready to throw in the towel, but I went back and read some of the older pages and realized that I want to see this version of the comic finished as much as anyone. Even though it's not the end of the story that Drew and I have planned, volume 3 has a certain finality to it that seems like a natural place to stop and start fresh. I'm still going to remake the comic, but having the first version semi-completed is important to me. Even if it never makes it's way to print. It was part of my journey to get me where I am today and I don't want to just brush it under the rug and forget about it.
Anyway, that's pretty much all I have for today. I just wanted to keep you guys in the loop. I'll likely start updating the comic again in April but I am planning on posting page previews and other content on here beforehand. I may also post an update on my anatomy course if anyone's interested. I'm about to start another course very soon (I'm torn between fundamentals of character design and storyboarding), so I will probably be posting more on that in the future. All in all, I'm very excited to start working on the comic again, I just need a bit of rest so I can heal and give it my all. :)
Thank you so much for your support, it seriously means the world to me. I don't have a whole lot to share at the moment, due to the aforementioned health stuff, but I do have this concept art I painted of Lavinia. I'm not sure if I will add more to it or refine it, I just always have a fun time drawing space art. I've also attached it to this post, as patreon can be a bit hit or miss with image quality.
Thanks again and I hope to share more content with you all soon!
