Let's talk NaNoWriMo!
National Novel Writing Month is here! It started today and goes (surprise) all month long. The goal of this non competitive competition is for writers, not just nationally, but all over the world, to write 50,000 words in the month of November. No small job, but not at all unattainable. In fact, in September they already were figuring on almost 400,000 participants worldwide. The number should be much larger today. They have stat pages somewhere. or will have them. This is but day one.

I have 2146 words so far today. And the day is young. By tomorrow I believe they they will be posting region totals and other numbers. I'm lucky enough to be in a small region: Patagonia Arizona, so my efforts do show up as an important part of our daily total.

A writer has to average 1,667 words a day to reach the goal. Of course, that assumes you write on turkey day, too. I figure I have to make 2000 a day, because I have other work a few days this month.

If I remember correctly from last year about 20% of participants reach the goal! I participated and written my 50k the last two years and, maybe I will this year too. We shall see. It's free, so think about it...
