Making BB-8 (v2) - Reattaching the Head - Part 3
Making BB-8 (v2) part 3 is here! I took it out to a local makerspace and the response was amazing -- folks react to it as they would a cute pet or a child. I got pretty good at controlling it to respond to people with a personality. It can go backward, forward, turn on the spot and turn with a 4 foot/1 meter radius. Looks like fiberglassing the cardboard globe did the job of making the ball rigid. It's a dream to close compared to how it was before and the head just slides over the seam. It's working so well now that the next part will be detailing and painting! That's usually what people do first, but what can I say, the engineering challenge is what gets me going!
