Mosta my guys, they can handle what their job is an’ nothin’ past that. The trick is ta make sure that that job is somethin’ that covers as much as it can wit’out the guy gettin’ confused. Long as they don’t start slowin’ down when they do stuff, their job can get bigger. Bigger the part in the plan, the bigger their cut, so they’ve got a reason to get better at this stuff too.
Problem is, none of them are set up for bein’ the boss. I’ve got a modest operation here, even if it is a profitable one. Since I worked my way up the hard way, I never needed to get any second in command guys. That bein’ said, I can’t split my focus into two things. MacIntyre’s an issue, but assuming most of my guys keep on the lookout, things shouldn’t go bad fast enough that I can’t respond over the phone.
An’ that right there tells me what I’m gonna do. This Vanatis guy has no past other than the sealed court records. That might be a distraction, but I’ve got enough muscle on the street to make sure that it don’t matter. Anywhere I get signal, I can be on top of business and get balls rolling. I’ll have MacIntyre’s bait, and make him eat it.
One quick search is all I need to find out that court records are sealed if it’s about kids, witness protection, trade secrets, or state secrets. Probably this falls under the trade secrets one. Apparently they don’t destroy the records though, in case it gets unsealed later, so I can just go up to the courthouse and take them.
