Is there a song that you can always listen to, and no matter how many times you play it, it never gets old?
If you’ve attended my streams you know I listen to an…eclectic mix...*cough* but my forever song would probably be something classical, I think. Maybe Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, his 6th or I Giorni by Einaudi.
What's your favourite part about drawing digitally?
The convenience of digital art really appeals to me, and the ability to try things out and make edits without having to start over is pure magic. Layers are a godsend, to be quite honest. I also love that I can control every single detail of a picture down to the last pixel. I admire traditional artists a great deal and thing mediums like watercolour are absolutely beautiful but sometimes you just gotta let the paint do its thing and that is mildly terrifying to me…
I’m probably going to have to say cats, but qualify that by adding “cats of all shapes and sizes, including difference species entirely” lmao. I adore big cats like jaguars and tigers. I think they’re so so beautiful and powerful! I’m a massive lover of animals generally, though. When I was younger I wanted to be a vet, or maybe do something with conservation work. Alas, it didn’t quite work out that way but some of my favourite things to watch are nature documentaries.
How did you come up with your username?
I am terrible at coming up with new usernames and I have an embarrassing history with them (yikes, I’m so glad I’m not stuck with my old weaboo faux Japanese abomination on DevART anymore). “Pussycat” was actually a nickname of mine while I was at university, which was when I created my tumblr. I’d been wracking my brain for ages and ages because I didn’t want to use my old livejournal name and decided why the hell not. The “scribbles” part was just an add-on to flag up the kind of content I was posting without having to specifically say “art”. Luckily I know have a fairly solid brand and can just try to use that name everywhere, or get as close to it as I can (although “kittycat-scribbles” on Twitch still makes me shudder because it just feels wrong…).
If you could live in any fictional universe, which would you choose?
This is an evil question, because so many of the fictional universes that I adore would be awful to live in. Harry Potter would be a great example – that would be a special kind of dystopian hell (I have a lot of feelings about the problems with the Wizarding World, don’t get me started) but the magic. Oh man, the magic. The Disc would also be such a fascinating place to be, but would I want to live in the Lancre with the witches, or in the winding streets of Ankh-Morpork, or Ephebe, or Fourecks (probably not this one because the dangerous wildlife)? Choices, choices! As someone who enjoys immersing themselves in multiple fictional worlds, I don’t think I could possibly choose?
Do you read web comics and if yes, are there any you recommend?
I’m not actually a huge reader of webcomics, although I couldn’t really tell you why? I used to read Teahouse when it was still going, and I’ve always been a fan of Starfighter by HamletMachine (oh man art goals forever). Chira’s Sfeertheory is also shaping up to be super super interesting and the art is fantastic as well. I’ve been meaning to read Sister Claire because the creators (Yamino and Ash) are so sweet and I’ve heard amazing things about the queer representation in it. Occasionally I’ll binge catch-up with Oglaf (NSFW) when I’m reminded it’s a thing, too!
I’m open to recommendations, though, so if you have any please send them my way!
And that's all she wrote! I hope you enjoyed my answers to your questions and I look forward to seeing what you ask me for June!
As an aside, Rewards should be going up later today if I get back from wedding cake tasting in good time (and am not in some sort of cake-induced sugar coma...)
