Meadows Museum Study #2
So here is a study of a study alongside a quote that says not to imitate others. Hahaha!  I can't say I 100% agree with the quote because there are artists who will interpret nature in a way you may have never considered it before and it may make you see things with new eyes.  Also, you can't photograph inside the Meadows Museum so if you want to take a picture, you pretty much have to sketch it.

I really liked the solidity and shape of the trees and the leaves like little puffs of smoke.  I don't do a lot of nature studies and I think that's because I have a tendency to hurry past those panels in graphic novels. The same goes for architecture. All that work that's gone into creating a two-three inch masterpiece and it barely registers because I'm in such a hurry to get to the dialog.  The interaction of the characters has always been what interests me most, but as I work on this project and put so much into the world-building part of it, the more I see how environment shapes the conversations and personalities of the people the story is about.

I am going to chance a trip to the Dallas Zoo today. The rain is supposed to stop by 1pm so hopefully I will get four good hours of sketching in. The temperature certainly is perfect for it.  With any luck I'll have some animal sketches to scan sometime this week.
