MF DOOM is the ultimate revolutionary. A subversive artist that bucked consumerism and the commercialization of Hip Hop throughout his career.

The average consumer didn't get his music. You didn't hear him in the dance club or on commercial radio. He made revolutionary music that subverted consumerism. His music resonated with artists and revolutionaries and anyone searching for authenticity. We heard his music at underground Hip Hop shows and on college radio.

This is the ultimate form of revolution -- to be authentic and do what you love. This, in my opinion, is what makes MF DOOM such an important artist. He lived and created authentically and in doing so, he inspired others to do the same -- to be our authentic selves.

"THIS MAN HAS MEANT SOMETHING TO OUR CULTURE THAT NO OTHER MC HAS BECAUSE HE FIGURED OUT SOMETHING THAT NONE OF US HAS BEFORE HIM AND THAT WAS TO BE COMPLETELY FREE!!! WE ALL HAVE SOOOOOO MUCH TO STILL LEARN FROM THIS GREAT MIND!! AGAIN REST EASY KING!!!" - Busta Rhymes
