Military Internees and the Irish Free State
Eire remained neutral throughout #WWII, but she couldn’t avoid the war, it was a delicate path the De Valera government had to negotiate.

One issue was what to do with servicemen of the belligerent nations who found themselves in Ireland. They were not POWs but rather interned into camps, with a remarkable amount of freedom.

In this episode we look at these internees and the camp.

I’m joined by Bernard Kelly. Bernard is a Irish historian whose book Military Internees, Prisoners of War and the Irish State during the Second World War looks at these issues.
