The MWC Wire countdown continues with the 24th-ranked Mountain West hooper for the 2017-18 season.
Wyoming forward Alan Herndon comes in at #24. The senior from Colorado Springs averaged 11.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks last season for the Cowboys.
Herndon has displayed significant growth in each of his first three seasons, making him a viable candidate for this year's top 25 list. Herndon has increased his points per game average by at least 3.5 points every offseason, and his rebounds per game average by at least 1.3 rebounds every offseason. If he replicates that progress again this year, there's reason to believe he could be considered one of the top front court players in the league.
Herndon also developed a legitimate perimeter last season. After connecting on 21 threes his first two seasons, Herndon knocked down 58 triples and shot 37.9% - not bad for a 6-9 forward. He also started 36 of Wyoming's 38 games, and could form one of the best front courts in the MWC alongside fellow senior Hayden Dalton.
