Mountain West Basketball Top 25: #22
by Eli Boettger

The MWC Wire Basketball Countdown continues with the 22nd-ranked player.

Fresno State guard Jahmel Taylor comes in at #22 in the 2017 MWC Wire countdown. Taylor, a senior guard, averaged 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals this past season for the Bulldogs. He also started in 28 of his 33 appearances.

Taylor is one of the elite perimeter shooters in the Mountain West. Since coming over as a Washington transfer, Taylor has converted 125 of his 239 three-point attempts, good for 43.9%. More than three-fourths of his field goal attempts are from downtown, and he's not afraid to crank from a handful of feet behind the three-point line, either.

In a loaded Fresno State back court that returns two double-digit scorers and adds Pacific transfer Ray Bowles (who averaged 13.4 points per game last year), it's hard to tell how head coach Rodney Terry plans to utilize all of his guards. As a result, Taylor's per-game averages might not be nearly as impressive as they were a year ago, but his efficiency should rise with opponents trying to combat all of Fresno's scoring weapons.
