We now move on to the 21st-ranked player in the MWC Wire basketball countdown.
Coming in at #21 is Colorado State guard J.D. Paige.
Paige scored 8.8 points per game last season to go along with 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists and started each of CSU's 36 games. Though he had a significant role within the Colorado State rotation (led the team in minutes played with 1,171) he was never considered a #1 or #2 option with seniors Gian Clavell and Emmanuel Omogbo on the floor.
Now that both Clavell and Omogbo have moved on, Paige will be at the controls along with fellow guard Prentiss Nixon (13.2 PPG). Paige will likely start every Rams game this season, but he will be asked to do a lot more on offense (16.4% usage percentage and 1.01 points per possession last year).
Paige has yet to be a truly efficient player, as he's shot 35.9% from the field the past two seasons. But if Paige can increase his production while simultaneously elevating his usage within the CSU offense, the Rams could surprise some teams.
