Mountain West Basketball Top 25: #20

Oct 10, 2017

by Eli Boettger

The MWC Wire Basketball Countdown continues with the 20th-ranked player of this year's list.

New Mexico forward Sam Logwood checks in at #20. The MWC Wire staff expects the Lobo senior to take over the reins for first-year head coach Paul Weir.

Logwood has started at least 16 games in each of his first three seasons in Albuquerque, averaging 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game over 90 appearances.

After ex-head coach Craig Neal's ousting in the spring, Logwood nearly opted to transfer out of the university, but later decided he would remain with UNM for his fourth season of collegiate eligibility. Logwood will likely start at the 4, and now possesses the biggest role of his college career.

Along with Dane Kuiper (the 25th-ranked player in the MWC Wire Basketball Countdown), the UNM forward positions appear all but settled. Now, if Logwood can increase his efficiency on the offensive end, he could be a worthy chance to land on an all-conference team come March.
