The next player in the MWC Wire Basketball Countdown is the 16th player on the list.
Milwaukee transfer and current UNLV point guard Jordan Johnson is 16th in this year's MWC Wire Basketball Countdown.
Johnson sat out the 2016-17 season per NCAA eligibility rules after announcing he would be transferring to UNLV. In his first collegiate season as a junior, Johnson nearly averaged a nightly double-double. He scored 12.9 points per game, but his 8.1 assists per game were the more impressive number. He finished the season second in the entire country in assists per game, and fourth in both total assists and assist percentage.
Johnson is an excellent passer who should thrive in UNLV's new-look offense that features McDonald's All-American Brandon McCoy, JUCO transfer Shakur Juiston and returning leading scorer Jovan Mooring. Though the Rebels are recovering from a down year, Johnson's teammates in Vegas are far more talented than his previous group, so he will only improve this year as the quarterback of the UNLV offense. If the Runnin' Rebs are a better jump-shooting team than projected, Johnson could lead the country in assists.
