Mountain West Basketball Top 25: #14

The MWC Basketball Countdown continues with #14.

San Diego State guard Jeremy Hemsley is our #14 player heading into the 2017-18 season. The Aztecs guard nearly led SDSU in scoring last season with 12.9 points per game, thanks to 21 double-digit scoring performances.

Teamed up with Devin Watson and Trey Kell in a formidable back court, the Aztecs could have its best guard group in years. Head coach Brian Dutcher will hope that Hemsley can improve his assist-to-turnover ratio as an upperclassmen. In his first two season, Hemsley recorded 134 assists to 135 turnovers.

Consistency is the "x-factor" for Hemsley in 2017-18. He's a talented player whose ceiling is extraordinarily high if he can perform night in and night out. In exactly half of Hemsley's 32 appearances last season, though, he shot worse than 40% from the field, including 1-10 at UNLV and 3-13 at New Mexico.

With added talent in Viejas, the San Diego State offense should be more fluid and will likely take pressure off of SDSU's scorers. With that being said, Hemsley needs to be more efficient on offense this season, as he's already an above-average defender.
