Moving Dialogues Workshops and more!
Hey Amazing People!

I hope you are all warm and wonderful - we are expecting SNOW for the 1st time this winter tonight and tomorrow. I'm both excited at the prospect of a "snow day", and wanting spring to just be here and stay here already!

Contradiction Dance just wrapped up a VERY busy 7 week period of art making and performing four different productions, each a number of times.

  • DEA Youth Dance Program x 3 shows
  • #DanceAboutDC: In the House x 1 show
  • Objects of Hope: The America Project x 1 show
  • NOW - A Dance about Distraction x 6 shows

It's a lot. And, I LOVE IT! We have one more production to make next month. It's a pilot performance of a new assembly for schools. Here's a description:

Moving Dialogues: Dance the Answer

Life is full of questions. Our brains and hearts often have the answers. For the times they don’t, or when they disagree, dance can help! The dancers of Contradiction Dance discover the answers to the audience’s burning questions using dance as their greatest tool. Interactive. Prek-2: 35 mins; 3-6th 50 mins. 3-4 performers, including Artistic Director Kelly King

I led a residency at the school earlier this year, they asked that I perform as part of the package. I love performing, so of course I said, "Yes!" I'm hoping the lower pressure with zero tech/production needs will keep me from having a lyme reaction to the stress. I'm pretty confident about this one - fingers crossed!

The video above is to advertise a workshop series my friend Damon Silas and I are offering this weekend. It's called Dance and Dialogue: For Healing and Rejuvenation. He is a psychologist, author, dancer and more; he is a former Contradiction Dance cast member and leader of Culture Shock Dance Company - a hip hop company here in DC. He is presenting a workshop on Dancing Mindfullness and I'm offering my Moving Dialogues Workshop.

We hope this is the beginning of many more combined series to come!

Also, the following Saturday I'm leading another MD Workshop to a group of knitters who are interested in moving more. Knitters? Who want to dance? Ok! I'm in!

I'm excited to be building a community of people who dance more. Thanks for being part of my community and helping me keep it moving forward - I could not do this work without your support.
