Happy Friday, everyone! Here is another update for everyone.
Before we dive into it, I guess I'll start by letting everyone know that moving forward I'm going to be making a public post every Friday, to share some fun news and some sneak peeks for what I've been working on in the last week. Now that that's out of the way, let's get into it.
No, I'm not getting plastic surgery, although some might argue I need it more than the game. What I'm talking about here is updating the user interface (UI) for Hazordhu. It's been in need of it for a very long time, and DM can now support a lot of cool things it wasn't able to before.
So my project for the week here has been to update the entire UI for the game. That means getting rid of the dated and clunky box-windows and pop-ups, moving everything towards a more sleek and intuitive design, with custom art.
(re)Designing an interface is never an easy task, it has to be functional before anything else. So I've been spending a lot of time addressing some current issues like obscure interactions, and placement of the windows, and all of that fun stuff. Speaking of placement, most of the new ui elements will be able to be moved around to wherever you would like them on the screen.
Along with interface changes, there are also going to be a few slight changes to gameplay, to use our Inventory window as an example, you'll see that there's a defined grid. Players will have a 12 item limit (stacked items still only count for 1 slot) in combination with weight, so you'll need to bear in mind the physical limits of your character before striking out.
Overall, this has been a pretty mammoth task to dive into and change up, so the next server update may be a little ways away, but that's fine because it gives you the players more time to enjoy the game uninterrupted.
You can see a little teaser in the video for the new inventory window.
