This is a #song about both my life’s love and the common swift (apus apus) my favorite #bird. Listen to the #music ; You see this bird (as with swallows, and that’s it, no one else) when he’s young in the nest, doesn’t get to walk on tree branches to try & flap its new wings out : He has to let himself go in the BIG EMPTY VOID. It takes weeks for him to decide, its parents even have to starve him. Then when he does gather the courage to let go, and after two weeks on a nearby electric wire, get this : he won’t touch earth for two years ; eating exclusively flying insects, drinking in-flight from various bodies of water (truly a sight to behold) and sleeping in the sky, 8 seconds sleeps / 2 seconds of watch. He can reach 3K meters and more like this ; No bird flies higher than him.
“Albalete” (“crossbow”) is one of the many (more than 100 for the whole Gaule) nicknames of the birds, back home in France. We have a lot of them here in norther Africa, flying insane rallies among the buildings, nesting in old windows broken curtains, never below 6 meters of altitude.
PLEASE SHARE THAT LOVE OF EVERYDAY MIGHTY NATURE and do share the song too ♥ love,
