New Short Fiction - "Waiting Room"
Hi! Here's a new sci-fi short story I've been working on for the past month or so called "Waiting Room."  It's sort of a quiet story set in the future about a conversation that begins between a trans woman and an android woman who are both waiting for their consultations at a surgical clinic in Portland. Despite the futuristic setting, a lot of the story is based on my experiences living in Portland as a trans woman of color, and trying to figure out a way to live in this place that is supposed to be a kind of paradise that trans women can thrive in (at least, that's what white trans women keep telling me) while also being the place where racial slurs were shouted at me by a group of white men as I walked through the nice neighborhood I lived in and the same place where black teen Larnell Bruce Jr. was murdered by white supremacists just two months ago. I don't have plans to publish this story anywhere, but I might add it to this journal project I've been working on, tentatively titled "Portland Diary", where I'm trying to collect and finish developing some short essays and other unpublished writing that I've done since returning to the city this past summer.

I've attached the story as PDF that you can download. Let me know if I should make it available in another format that might be easier for you to read.
