I don't know if you can call it a strictly mechanical principle or cinematic principle - neither really seems to incorporate the essence of what's going on when the player crouches or the camera zooms, and how the two attribute the player to Snake and vice versa. It's a remarkably complicated matter, pressing the X button.
By the end of last week I had half give up on finishing this video by the end of November - I'd spent far too long on the script (which gave me such unbelievable hassle) and sourcing the footage (took three days to find a ten second clip where Snake, any Snake, goes from standing to a crouch to a crawl). Then for whatever reason, I decided to learn a brand new program called slomoVideo to render the opening twenty seconds. I could have given up but I decided not to compromise what I envisioned as a delightfully indulgent intro. Entirely worth it.
But then, through all my planning and note taking, for the first time ever the audio production and video editing just all came together like a dream. I always make an effort to edit to the music and the last minute of this one fell together like magic.
