The Final Fantasy Project: Final Fantasy III, part 1
Final Fantasy III is why this project is what it is. We're now entirely out of the realm of repeats from stuff I've written before; everything going down in these columns is totally live, so I'm not yet sure how long we'll be exploring the world of whatever-planet-this-game-takes-place-upon.
Oh joy, FFIII!
I was but a wee lad when I first started finding out the differences between the Final Fantasy series in Japan and here in the US. Being a teenager on the internet, my first instinct was to shun these strange games with titles that I associated with other games, but eventually I realized that it was silly and started exploring these games. Starting, appropriately, with Final Fantasy III. Yes, I was playing a half-translated patch and missing nearly all of the plot points, but I fell in love with the NES version, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about exploring the remake as well. While it might be a bit of a spoiler, I feel comfortable saying that my fond memories hold up quite well. But you don't have to take my word for it here; you can read my words all about it in this week's column. Enjoy!
