Statistically, kids are more likely to be cis than trans, and more likely to be straight than gay. My kid is and your kids are. Except, the larger group of kids we talk about, the greater the chances that one or more of them is trans or gay (or bi or pan). Queer kids are less common, but not really rare.
I wish all parents were cognizant of and open to those possibilities. Some of our kids, I don’t know which, are different from their peers in these ways. They are trans and gay. And those kids need to know it will be safe and beneficial to talk to their parents. They need to know they will be loved and accepted.
