Painting a Piece of History
If you live in Portland you have no doubt heard of Alpenrose Dairy. I happen to be a neighbor to them. Having lived here for almost 18 years I have a bit of personal history with the dairy. To name a few examples: My younger son had his 3rd birthday party in the Alpenrose Ice Cream Parlor. It was also the first place I could allow both my boys to walk to alone when they were old enough to start exploring the neighborhood and my older son did his Eagle Scout project at the dairy.

Alpenrose has a long history in the community. The dairy officially began in 1916 which makes next year their 100th birthday. To honor this wonderful place I am creating a series of paintings. There is so much history that I feel needs to preserved. This oil painting (8 x 8)  is one of several paintings I have done already. It was started 'plein air' (on location) and finished in the studio. I will post more as I finish them. As one of my patrons you will see how this body of work unfolds. Stay tuned... And thank you for your support!
