With daycares and after school activities charging premium rates, holding moms’ careers hostage as they do, it’s clear there is a market value for feeding, cleaning, teaching, and playing with babies and toddlers and for supervising and entertaining older children. Yet when parents sacrifice work hours to perform this same labor, society demands that it be uncompensated.
