Pedagogical geekery: polka and polka redowa

This is a rather different sort of post for me.  I rarely discuss specific teaching techniques.  But on my recent trips to Russia, I find myself teaching primarily other teachers, and there's interest in learning teaching techniques as well as the actual dances.  So this post is going to be fairly opaque to those who aren't familiar with these dances and not terribly useful except to those interested in teaching.  Familiarity with music will help some; what I'm talking about is transferring steps back and forth between 2/4 and 3/4 time.  If you want more explanation, let me know, and I'll try to put it in less dance-jargony terms.

If this post proves popular, useful, or influential, maybe I'll try writing a bit more about this sort of thing!
