I've been debating over this ever since I heard of Patreon. The idea behind charging someone per creation was something I never did quite grasp and therefore never paid it much attention. Then I did my homework. I sought out people in the same writing field that I am in and compared those charging per month with those charging per creation. Now that I've done as much research as I think could have been done, I feel my decision to land on the per creation side is what's best for me.
Of course, this isn't for everyone. Some people need that income every month and rely on it for bills and food and shelter. Luckily, I am not in that place right now in my life. I work 9-5 but not in a writing field and it's NOT what I want to be doing for the rest of my life.
I want to write and tell stories till my brain turns to mush and the ideas simply stop festering in my brain. I want to not only write them and tell them but I want you to read them. I want you to read them and love them and look forward to them whenever I tell you one is coming.
Stonehaven Fables are not the only stories I'm telling. These are my short stories but my library will be expanding (and quickly if I can help it) to include full-length novels and novellas every year. I'll pump out as much as I can considering I have a desk job Monday - Friday but that's where this Patreon comes in and your decision to contribute to each of my creation helps.
Just knowing I have people out there looking forward to my story and pledging to pay even just $1 to read my Stonehaven Fables brings along a certain level of accountability that someone like me needs desperately! And I promise to keep delivering the best stories as long as you stick with me through it all.
And as always, thanks for reading.
