Poetry Corner: About You

The world is yours,

To take and receive

As only you see fit.

The world is yours,

While the rest of us

Occupy empty space.

We bring laughter

When you are lonely

We add spice to your life.

Your sole banquet.

How dare we partake

And how dare we survive

Despite your rage.

How dare we wander,

Despite your gracious lust.

Perhaps some have

Forgotten their place.

In your beautiful world

We are your pawns

For you to play with.

Sacrifice to your whim.

We are your sheep,

Servants in this world

We merely inhabit.

A world that is

All yourself-centered.

So egotistical

That I wager

You think that even

This poem is about you.
